It all began in Mahon on in 1986, The Day Services and the accommodation commenced operations in a purpose built building in St Michaels Lawn entirely funded by kind Donations from the people of Cork.
This major fundraising drive was spearheaded by a very hardworking voluntary committee, Chaired by Mrs Sheila Goldberg former Lady Mayoress of Cork City.
In 2010 due to lack of space and to enable Abode to facilitate the developing needs of the Service Users, Abode transferred it complete Services to a much larger purpose built facility on the Skehard Road.
This project had been in the pipeline for many years and with the overwhelming support of the Cork City council the project was brought to life and completed in 2009.
The Abode Services continue to develop in order to meet client’s needs at the new purpose built facility at Kilbrack Grove.
