ABODE (Doorway to Life Ltd) Cork is what is known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We take your privacy seriously and will only use personal information about you and your family to provide the Services you have requested from us.
We collect personal data from you to be able to deliver the Services you have requested. This includes basic personal data and contact information such as name, address, email and phone number, details of next of kin, your PPS number, and Medical Card number if you have one, and details of Social Welfare claims and payments if applicable, which we require for administration purposes.
In addition, we will with your consent collect sensitive personal data which includes for example personal and family history, details on your level of disability and need for aids and appliances where relevant, to allow us to provide the Service requested, and to help ensure your safety and wellbeing.

We need your basic personal data and sensitive data to provide you with our Services. We will only collect the personal data necessary to provide this Service to you.
What we do with it / Data Sharing and Disclosure
The personal data we collect is processed by the staff of ABODE.
All our Services are conducted with the highest level of privacy and confidentiality.
If you or members of your family are working with other agencies, we may find it useful to contact these agencies about you to provide you with a better service.
We will not contact another agency or share your information without your consent.
There are, however, limitations to what we can keep confidential. In cases where it is felt there may be a risk to vulnerable adults, we have a legal obligation to report this information to the relevant agencies. Similarly if there is a safety risk to yourself or others, this may also need to be reported.
We have Data Protection policies and procedures in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data.
How long we keep it /Retention Period & Criteria used
We will keep your personal data for as long as you remain engaged with the Service, and for the period of time afterwards required by the relevant statutory and legislative guidelines that apply. If you wish to see what information we hold on you, simply contact us either by post or email, and we will try to respond to you within one month of receipt of your request.
